I love the library summer reading program – everyone can sign up (from toddlers up to adults) and we just turned in our first 10 days of reading coupons. We each got to pick a book and since we came early in the summer we had lots of options. I got two Eric Carle books for the little ones (one board, one paperback) and Mo picked a piggy & elephant book by Mo Williems. Christopher was thrilled to get a Magic Tree House book – #1! Kit didn’t adore anything so we used his to get a second Magic Tree House book. And Kit and I both noticed on the grown up shelf that they had a copy of Twilight. Kit was totally laughing at me and said I had to get it so I did. 🙂
After the next 10 days Kit and I both get book totes and I’m not sure what the kids get. I think the kids get some restaurant coupons for their next ten days, free kids’ meals and ice cream and such. The last 10 days for adults gets you entered into a drawing at a party we don’t attend. The kids’ last 10 days gets a pass to Water Works amusement park for a bit celebration we may or may not attend. I suspect it’s crazy.
But very fun, worth signing up at your library for the summer reading program. We’re also doing the one with Half Price Books – for every week the kids read at least 15 minutes for 5 days they get a $3 gift card. Between June & July they can get $24 or so of gift cards each!
