ID Cards

In Texas since there’s no regulating of homeschoolers there’s also no way to verify you are a homeschooler officially. We’ve been able to use a printed up card from one of our groups (a county wide association – DCHSA) but there’s no photo on that and I don’t know that it’s any more valid than one we print on our own. Many places don’t ask for teacher verification (Apple store, for one) but some places do (Jo-Ann’s teacher discount, some book stores.) I heard the suggestion to create a family homeschool name & logo and print up some business size cards with names (and many places also want a school year listed) and you can even add pictures if you want. Students often need an ID to get discounts, whether from public, private or homeschools. (In Texas a homeschool counts as a private school.) And then you can laminate the cards to make them more durable and official looking. 🙂

I’m talking with Kit now re: our homeschool log. And mascot! We need a mascot. Maybe some school colors? Theme song. Hmm…
