Summer Scheduling II

We’ve officially hit the 100s and that means playtime outside has to be EARLY in the morning. We’ve swamped our schedule so the kids are free to play right after breakfast & chores, then come in for lunch. After lunch (when it’s a bazillion degrees outside) we drag pillows and blankets into the living room and curl up on the couch to read aloud. Today it’s Romeo & Juliet and Black Beauty. After quiet story time we’ll do our specials (messy art projects, piano lessons, science reading/projects, listen to our history while working on activity pages, etc.)

Kit installed a tree swing, which is beautifully shaded and useable even in the afternoon. We’re also putting in the IKEA hanging seat in the girls’ room and a trapeze pull up bar of sorts. Plus we have the fort, trampoline & rocking horse in the sunroom.

This week we let the kids camp out in the teepee and IKEA tents in the sunroom. We’re also enjoying the library, playdates, park, and lake. I have hope we can get through this summer with a minimal amount of stir-craziness due to the heat. 🙂
