  1. Let me know what you think of these books as you work your way through them. I have a friend that will be sending me A Thomas Jefferson Education soon. Many of these listed seem a little old for our 1st /2nd graders. Is there a recommended age? I guess I’m thinking especially of The Chosen, Pride & Prejudice, A Merchant of Venice, and Walden. I’m intrigued that there’s a Louis L’Amour book on there. Never heard of Little Britches before. I think I’ve heard the title Laddie, but I don’t know anything about it.

  2. Abby, these are the suggested readings for parents, not kids. The TJ book is really geared towards what to do with your kids starting around age 12. Until then they suggest working on our own education and preparing for the mentoring of the classics with the kids. So these are the books Kit & I are reading together and discussing. The Thomas Jefferson companion book had more information for the younger years but the TJ Education is for junior high/high school level when the kids can read the books on their own and begin discussing it with us.
